Development of Cheap Transition metal based Catalyst for Various Organic Transformations (C-H activation, C-C, C-X bond formation reaction):

Transition metals play vital roles in modern organic and organometallic chemistry owing to their interesting inherent properties. They are found to possess excellent catalytic activity in carrying out several important and unattainable organic transformations. For example, catalysts made of expensive transition metals such as Pd/Pt are known to promote several C-C bond formation reactions by C-H activation. Our principal aim is to develop strategies for synthetically important transformations like C-C, C-X (X = O, S, N, etc.) bond formation by C-H activation using earth-abundant and cheap transition metals (Cu, Co, Ni, etc.) as catalysts. Eliminating the dominance of expensive transition metal catalysts with cheaper and easy-to-handle solutions will take the field of catalysis a step forward.
